CNS Healthcare’s award-winning nationally recognized Anti-Stigma Program began in 2005.  The program celebrates the many contributions of people living with mental health illnesses and their recovery.  According to the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), recovery is “a process of change through which individuals improve their health and wellness, live a self-directed life, and strive to reach their full potential.”  Since its inception, the CNS Healthcare Anti-Stigma Program has touched and transformed the lives of people across the country.

The CNS Healthcare Anti-Stigma Team is committed to educating people about the importance of eliminating stigma.  Through education, the team challenges and dispels the many commonly held misconceptions and stereotypes often associated with mental illness and communicates the facts.  With poetry, music and personal testimonies, CNS Healthcare’s Anti-Stigma Team delivers the message that “hope and recovery are possible,” while emphasizing the importance of treating mental and physical disorders – the whole person, body, and mind.

Recognized for its long-standing successes, annually the CNS Healthcare Anti-Stigma Team receives presentation requests to share lessons learned and best practices.  To book a presentation or learn more about the CNS Healthcare Anti-Stigma Program, call 248.409.4277 or send an email to antistigma@cnshealthcare.org.
